Out of Work List / Referral List
If you get laid off, call, email, or come to the office to be placed on the Referral List. As a hiring hall, we may be able to place in a job with another contractor. When you get laid off file for unemployment with Iowa Workforce Development. Also, contact Iowa Workforce Development if you have experienced issues with discrimination and/or harassment.
Monthly Dues and Initiations
Monthly union dues (also referred to as "window dues") are due on the first of the month. If you go two months without paying, you will be suspended by the International Union without notice. It is your responsibility to make sure your monthly dues and initiations are current.
You can pay with cash, check, money order, or credit card. Card payments must pay a $2 processing fee. You can also pay online once you are an active member in good standing; you are considered "active" once you receive your union card, and you are in "good standing" when you are current (not suspended). Working dues are taken out of your check by your employer when you are working. Some Heavy Highway Contractors will deduct your monthly dues and initiations out of your paycheck when you are working. However, they will not deduct when you are laid off, so it is your responsibility to pay your dues during this time.
Please notify us if you are a military veteran as your initiation fee can be waived upon receipt of your DD-14 form.
